Sometimes, I'm on the ball.
I noticed in the first part of the Standard's transcription or version of Chapman's Inquest on September 13th, a rather different statement attributed to Inspector Chandler than found in the London Times of the same day.
Take out The Ultimate...go to page 92...and look at the Times version.
A matter of Chandler being on duty in Commercial Street at 6:02 in the Times transcription...and being on duty at 5:50 in the Standard's.

Of course, this doesn't alter the course of Ripperology.
However, it does raise the question of other disparities being present in our literature that we aren't aware of....and some of those might be of importance overall in the study.

I know many of us moan at the apparent mnemonical failures ( or so it seems ) of police officials at the time in their writings....but these sort of disparities may well be just as important.
