Over the past few months I have been scouring the National Newspapers and local newspapers, been to London Metropolitan Archives, East Riding Archives and Hull's History Centre, and I have heard that Leeds has a good selection of local newspaper sources.

Does anyone know where I can find copies of the Yorkshire Post for the years 1888 to 1893?

Again, I have been told Leeds, but after searching thier online catalogue I have failed to find any evidence of this.

Mike:

I just checked Gale out...and Gale doesn't have the Yorkshire Post.
Let me look into this with you a little later on this morning.

Cheers Howard. East Riding Archives suggested Leeds and the West Yorkshire Archives but I searched their online catalogue and couldn't find it. A few years back I located a site that featured all the locations, it helped me trace a few rare Hull newspapers, but I cannot seem to locate this site now either.

Mike, contact the Yorkshire Post itself. If they can't tell you, no one can.

Mike, I think Leeds University (Brotherton Main Floor) have The Yorkshire Post on microfilm
1 Sept.1866-August 1996

Hi Mike,

There are indeed a lot of old newspapers available in Leeds, but it is a good few years since I had to use them. I suggest you phone either the Leeds Central Library, or Leeds University Library. Hopefully they should be able to set you on the right path, but when I used them most of it was on microfilm, which means a personal visit.

Leeds University holds it on microfilm. Or did when they allowed me access many years ago.

I am more than sure I have seen the Yorkshire Post relating to the dates required in the Leeds Library, they have literally thousands of reels in about 10 filing cabinets.

This will interest you Mike
