Berry's change of heart didn't do any good for number 197.

John Henry Burey = William Henry Bury I take it

I haven't heard that story about stolen money before

...and wasn't he a sawdust merchant rather than a cat's meat man?

This story would obviously have some merit if true

Has Berry fabricated this story do you think?

Neems:

I agree...it is an interesting story. He was a sawdust man...you're right.

I done blowed it up real good for the people to get a better look at what The Executioner said in regard to Bury.

I'm not aware of whether there were known instances of Berry prevaricating ( I believe SPE wrote a book on Berry...or was it Billington ?)...so hey, who knows Nemo ?

It seems quite a detailed story not to have any truth in it, and as far as I know Berry was a truthful man

I've actually got SPE's book but haven't got around to reading it as my father has borrowed it (One of his favourite books was about the Pierrepoint family so I thought he would like the one about Berry) I'll get it back and check it out

I seem to recall that many people were hoping for a last minute confession by Bury but he didn't say anything(?)
