Never heard that one before. I wonder where it came from...If true, the "corporal" obviously didn't use the "stick" on Connelly the way a "stick" was used on Emma Smith, but certainly more food for thought. Bank Holidays in 1888 seem to have had very unfortunate consequences for at least two "unfortunates".
