Its funny that you mention Gissing,Tim

I just read Adam Wood's excellent article on Victorian Funerals in the latest Ripperologist ( 64 ). A description of a Victorian funeral by Gissing was included in the article.

Gissing was mentioned as a suspect prior to Whittington-Egan's 1975 book. In a logical sense, judging from the entry, he would have to have been for Whittington-Egan to mention that he has been mentioned before.

Pat Pitman is the theorist who believed the murderer was Gissing. She told Colin Wilson some time in the 1960's and I believe there was a brief mention in the 1970 updated version of Donald McCormick's book - the thrid version.

McCormick's books are filled with lies and he backs up his information from sources that actually are himself, written under his now known pseudonym. It's pretty wild stuff - Melvin Harris deserves primacy for uncovering McCormick's web of lies, although there are even items that the passed away Mr. Harris missed with regards to McCormick's purposeful treachery.

Hope that helps a bit
