Between 1866 and 1920 there are 306 births in Lancashire of people surnamed JACK. The census records 1861-1901 show a number of J.M. Jack entries.
It's a pity that it's 3 years too late to correct the article but it does show how the Maybrick affair casts a misma of fluffiness over the minds of many.
