I have a question or rather a challenge for posters at the site. It has to do with the theory of the Disheveled Killer......I just came back from the neighborhood 7-11. I took my daughter and her friend to get a couple of goodies. Outside the store was a new "bum", as my daughter and her pals call them. A stringy haired victim of either schizophrenia, unalterable drug problems, delusional and a very sad figure...As I walked past the person with the kids, the little friend of my daughter made a large arc walking to avoid getting near the man. Afterwards,in the car,my daughter told her, "Kiana....they don't hurt you. They are just a pain in the ass...."-------This reminded me of what I had desired to post here a long time ago. What has bugged me for some time is where did anyone ever have a precedent to consider a Derelict type as the Ripper ?............................................. Its true that there are psychotropic drugs that exist today that did not exist in 1888....or even in 1900. Its true that today more, but hardly more than minimal, care is bestowed on those unfortunates with schizophrenia and the reasons I mentioned. Considering this fact, in my mind, it makes the possiblity of a Derelict Killer even less possible or plausible. No way a person eating out of gutters with out Thorazine or some other mood altering/conscious changing drug, gets away with performing a series of kills such as the Ripper crimes. I challenge anyone to show us an example of a Derelict Killer.

They probability of a homeless person, who's mind is altered by either by drug or disease, being a serial killer is, is HIGLY unlikey when you give the matter serious consideration. Instances of violence perpetrated by these individuals, if anything, tends to be sporadic and spontanious. At best. Usually, as a result of the infrequency of which they take their medication. With their cognitive function hampered due their disease or addition, their ability to analyze and rationalize is greatly dimished. As a result, they just aren't smart enough to pull it off, time and time again, because they don't "cover their tracks" as well as someone murdering with a clean, cognitive process.

Ghost ...thanks for adding these good points. In my haste to post,I also failed to mention that the so-called Underclass is USUALLY the VICTIM,rather than the perp in almost all serial killings. Prostitutes in innumerable instances...Homeless,as in the Cleveland Torso Killer slayings...Children,by the filthy, vile, subhuman pedophiles....the list goes sadly on. Invariably, when a member of the Underclass commits crimes against another economically less-challenged class, there is a louder clamor. Manson scared the hell out of glitzy L.A.....Wournos captivated Florida, not for her attractiveness, but her social position. This is always one area of Underclass life that those making the rules fear....that crimes like the latter will escalate.
