I don't follow the Maybrick story as much as I ought to it seems...I saw this mentioned on Casebook....
Is it true that Michael Barrett put an advertisement in a local newspaper asking for a "20 page" blank book in 1992?
Is Prof. Rubinstein being serious? Does he think that someone could not have written the MD in one or two days?
What the hell is this stuff about?
Where's Chris Phillips !!!!???

Apparently Keith Skinner discovered this advertisement, which has been described as being in a "trade magazine". According to Caroline Morris on forum.casebook.org, the wording of the advertisement was 'Unused or partly used diary dating from 1880-1890, must have at least 20 blank pages', and it was placed on 19 March 1992, about three and a half weeks before he first showed the diary to Doreen Montgomery.
But I thought there was a "no diary talk" policy here?

I don't know what all the fuss is about. Michael Barrett already admitted a long time ago that he'd forged the diary. Everyone who's spent time studying Maybrick as potentially being JTR since then could have saved themselves a lot of time and effort if they'd just believed that in the first place, instead of trying to make a case out of nothing....
Cheers,
Adam. :dizzy:
