Prince Eddy--Time to rethink?

And I don't mean to rethink him as a suspect, but as a person.

I recently read an article about Eddy in History Today that challenges a lot of the "accepted" facts about Eddy--primarily those about him being stupid and being homosexual/bisexual.

Any thoughts?

For instance, other than the completely unsubstantiated (and apparently dubious) claim that Prince Eddy was a patron of the Cleveland Street brothel, is there any evidence whatsoever that he may have been anything other than heterosexual?

Are there even any verifiable contemporary rumours that he was batting for another team, prior to Newton's shameless extortion?
