Nina and I just bought the book, The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers....written by Brian Lane and Wilf Gregg ( the gentleman who provides book critiques for Ripperologist....).

The thing that stood out to me ( aside for the error in describing Robert Stephenson as a black magician on page 212...and the then-unknown fact that RDS is now known to have died in 1916 ) was the index ( its a darned good compendium of these bad men and women ) which had at least 25 cases of two-man ( and woman ! ) tandem killers. Many of whom performed equally heinous murders and some exceeding Jack The Ripper's deeds. By no means were every two man team mentioned in the book either...

Of course, everyone knows that there have been two man killing teams before...that ain't the point.

More and more, the possibility that in some capacity...a second person was involved with the actual killer strikes me as feasible.

What do you think the possibilities are, folks?

I think the two man scenario makes more sense if you favour a "rational" motive for the murders, e.g. the social reformer. But if you think JTR was a nutter pure and simple, then it becomes much more unlikely.

Howard,

While going through the list of tandem killers, did you usually find that one of them was the boss and the other one was pretty much an obedient lackey? Kind of like the scenario of the Maryland Sniper Murders of 2002.

Joe:

Yeah buddy...that seems to have been the standard operating procedure with a two man ( or woman ) team of killers.

I admit that that I didn't realize that there were as many as there are or were...

Robert:

I agree with your thoughts on the motive...and that it would require a rational motive as you mentioned.
