Serial Killer Fears Reignited In Daytona Over 'Eerily Similar' Slaying
Chief: 'We May Be Heading Down This Road Again'

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- A 30-year-old woman found dead in some Daytona Beach woods may be the latest victim of a serial killer already blamed for the deaths of several women in the same area.

Daytona Beach police Chief Mike Chitwood said the slaying of Stacey Gage, 30, of Holly Hill last week is "eerily similar" to the slayings of three known prostitutes in December of 2006.

"There are a whole bunch of things that I'm not going to get into but from an investigator's perspective, when you sit back and look at the circumstances, you look at the location and look at other things that may be in her background, it gives us pause to say, 'You know, we may be heading down this road again,'" Daytona Beach police Chief Mike Chitwood said.

Police in Daytona Beach immediately issued a warning to women walking the streets or working as prostitutes Monday.

Detectives said Gage was last seen Dec. 10 when she went to get some ice.

Four days later, Gage's 1998 White Plymouth Voyager was reported missing.

Gage's body was discovered last week in some woods but her Plymouth, with Florida tag T25-9VD, remains missing.

Investigators said they determined that Gage was likely killed in the wooded area located at 1650 Hancock Blvd. She may have been in the woods for as long as two months, police said.

In 2006, the serial killing deaths of Iwana Patton, Laquetta Gunther and Julie Green grabbed national attention and frightened many in Daytona Beach.

Patton, Gunther and Green were all shot at close range and sexually assaulted. DNA was also left at each of the slayings, according to authorities.

Investigators said they still believe the killer is likely someone who knows Daytona Beach.

It was initially thought that the serial killer had left the area after the last homicide in 2006. However, now there are concerns he never left the area, Local 6's Tarik Minor said.

Anyone with information concerning the deaths is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.

Dear Bob,

This is a coincidence seeing Mike Chitwood's name ... he is a former Philadelphia homicide detective ... known for arresting Ira Einhorn, the "Unicorn" who killed Holly Maddox back in the seventies. Einhorn was a hippie who founded Earth Day.

Chitwood had also had the position of Police chief in a small town in Kansas previously.

Chitwood was a very successful homicide detective in Philly.

I remember that dirtbag ! He was living openly in Provence if memory serves. Didn't the New Yorker do a long article on him and his girlfriend ?

That greasy hippie scum actually stuffed her torso in a trunk...and blood oozed through the trunk into the ceiling of the hippie's first floor neighbor. He kept it for a long time in his room...all the while be-bopping around trying to get all the brainwashed kids to "turn on, tune in and drop out". I did the "turn on", but not the tune in and drop out.

He spouted hippie ideals...but you know how sincere those dirtbags were.

The instant one of them got pinched, they didn't run to their fellow "peace, love and dove" brethren....they ran off to find the best corporate lawyers money could buy. Thats exactly what Einhorn did...and how he survived on the run all those years...through contacts in the establishment, capitalist world he spent so much time on running down in the 60's and 70's.
