Found this on the Old Bailey website:

Here is a case bringing in a suspect on suspicion of being the Whitechapel murderer on 23 November 1888. It says of the unnamed man "and he was charged with behaving in such a strange manner that Dew thought he might be the Whitechapel murderer."

edit- Mistakes were made in the post. Fife wasn't a poiceman at all. I must read more closely. This concerned the Great Silk Robberies. See scans below.
