Being part-German myself, I find it bizarre that so many modern ( 20th & 21st century ) cannibals are of German ancestry. Dahmer,Haarmann,Kroll,Denke,Grossmann...over THIRTY in all.:tape:. I'm sure others have noticed the disproportionate number of Deutschenvolk.

Anyway, my point to this thread is that in Ackermann, we have a disturbed youngster who as a teenager attempted to impersonate a doctor, just to be able to perform surgery....a teenager who killed his room mate and was found in a disheveled state with blood drooling from his mouth and parts of his room mate ( his arm and brain and internal organs) just consumed.

He is now, a model prisoner, or so the staff at the mental institution claims. True, in an environment without children,pedophiles will be model prisoners...as will cannibals without the factors to encourage them to pursue that loathsome practice. He hopes to be released one day...

....to become a doctor.

Is this the sort of person we might be looking for here? Someone who pretended to be a doctor by ripping up ladies of the night...only to be arrested and incarcerated or institutionalized later on...never to resume his previous "work" since his interest has been satiated? Is this possible?

An argument over a porn tape, a scuffle, a possibly unintentional murder, all topped off with a multi-course two-day meal. That's how Robert Ackermann became Vienna's teenage cannibal killer. His case doesn't fit the typical profile of cannibalism. Ackermann's motives were neither ritualistic, particularly bloodthirsty, nor, despite the pleasure the crime provided him, apparently sexual in nature. I just checked into a site that listed 19 cannibals...9 were Germans,9 weren't, and the tie breaker was Jack The Ripper,whose ethnicity is obviously unclear.

3 African "leaders"...Bedel,Bokassa,and Amin were cannibals. Probably washed it down with a bottle o' Colt 45 malt liquor.:playball:

I just thought about the nature of the crimes that German serial killers perpetrate and am taken aback when the average German serial killer appears to also be a cannibal.

Maybe its something in our genes,I dunno.

Seriously, I think it would be safe to say JtR's ethnicity was caucasian in nature, with the nationality being the question.

Howard this is what I like about you. You are willing to explore JtR from all angles and not get stuck on one theory.:kiss:

While I do believe the killing stopped because JtR was killed or institutionalized, I don't think he was pretending to be a doctor. I think it was more sexual in nature and a hatred of prostitutes. I do think if it were what you described, he wouldn't have focused on prostitutes alone. There would have been average ladies being sliced up too.

Now you know what Nietzsche meant when he said, "When you look into the abyss, the abyss looks into you!"

I always thought it meant that the dark side starts doing an investigation on you. Now I found out it means you end up looking at yourself because the abyss is a mirror!

The latest book on Dahmer indicated he was third or fourth generation American, something about taxation on alchohol, by glass, making beer become more popular because it has more volume, and therefore Germans showing up in the Wisconsin area. 1880s, I believe.
