In a year that saw quite a few significant achievements in research in our field realized and accomplished, the choice has been made by the people.

The first recipient of the JTR Forums Award for their contribution to Ripperology was Jonathan Menges.

Congratulations JM...:thumbsupbud:

Thanks to everyone who voted, and those who voted for Rippercast via my name.

The fact of the matter is I wouldn't have had an episode #1 were it not for the time and effort Howard Brown and Mike Covell put into researching the life of Robert Donston Stephenson. LaVaughn Towell's careful consideration in planning and getting approval for a college class on the Whitechapel Murders in the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma in the USA should be applauded as well. Fiona Rule wrote a great book on Dorset Street that I'm sure took a lot of effort and research, on top of the actual writing. Kelly Robinson slaved away in organizing the US Conference, not an easy task. Debra Arif continues to amaze me with her depth of study into the non-C5 Whitechapel and Torso murders. Chris Scott, day in and day out, works like no other guy I know to freely give additional information to the subject. Tim Riordan kills me with his backwards and forwards knowledge of Tumblety and no one better could have discovered that photograph, that literally took my breath away. Philip Hutchinson's dedicated work into getting everything right about the Dutfields Yard photo, as well as writing with Rob Clack one of the best books we've seen in a long time, is an accomplishment that I could not have achieved.

You know where I'm going with this...

The podcast would have nothing to say, no one to say it to, and nothing to talk about, were it not for those who put their blood, sweat and tears into this case, and then agree to come on to talk about it.

My job is sooooo easy in comparison to the people that make the show possible.

So take a chainsaw to that Bentley, Howard, and start passing out the scraps.

Indeed - a nice guy and a hard-worker. An inspired creation too. Most of we others just did a 'thing'. JM does this every week.

Thanks to all for the kind comments!

I've asked that Howard, instead of getting me a subscription to a magazine, make a charitable donation of a similar amount to either the Tower Hamlets Women's Aid (http://www.thwa.org.uk/) organization or Jeremy Beadle's favorite charity, Children With Leukaemia (https://www.bmycharity.com/V2/jeremybeadle), in the name of the podcast. You should know that this donation, in the name of Rippercast, includes symbolically all of the names of those who have participated in the show in the past year.

Thanks,

And stay tuned,

For those of us who work or communicate with JM...this is typical of his generosity.

I'll be sending off a check to the Jeremy Beadle charity very soon in thename of Rippercast/JMenges equivalent to the cost of the previously intended subscription. I've lost the advertising funds for the Forums, due to cut backs on the part of the advertisers and will have to mail a check rather than use good old PayPal.

Thanks to those who voted, one final time, and maybe in the future this sort of charitable act initiated by JM will be standard procedure for JTRForums towards organizations in need.
