I've been rereading the Richard Prince Old Bailey trial, and it is absolutely ****ing amazing how many traits Richard and Thomas shared.
They both had a thing about tins of sardines; they both threatened to shoot folks with revolvers; thought they were being poisoned by their mothers; wrote letters to all and sundry; and of course stabbed people with a knife, because they imagined they were being persecuted by people who in reality didn't even know them.
Interesting is that many of their close relatives suffered similar delusions... Richard's brother, a London cabman was confined to an asylum in 1891 where he died soon after. One wonders why?
And Charles Henry died believing that the Catholics were poisoning the water supply of London and giving him a headache, taking the lunatics quick cure for a headache by blowing his head off his shoulders.
There is something here...
