The following excerpt emanates from the novel written about Hall Caine.
I'm wondering if Vivien Allen, the author, intended the following to appear as if William Burr made the remarks about Tumblety and his marriage at the age of 20. There is a break in the punctuation after the word "victim" on the 5th line. To me,it appears that the author is NOT alluding to Burr being the source of the claim beginning after the word "victim" on the 5th line....but I could be wrong.
One other reason I mention this is that in SPE's book, "The Lodger" on page 196....there is no age given for when Tumblety is alleged to have been married by Conover/Dunham in his interview with the New York World.
Has anyone read the book? What do you think? Where could this age of "20" have come from ? Where, also, does the approximation of the age of his "bride" come from, since that is not in the text in SPE"s book either?
