Many are by now aware of the establishment of a Forum for Mr. Evans in the Individual Forums section of the site. The number of threads at Mr. Evans' disposal are without limit and he can or may use as much space as he desires.

One thing that all of the Forums moderators, not being in direct control of that particular Forum, would like to kindly suggest is that those of you who may participate in this experiment of sorts with Mr. Evans comply with the expressed wish that Mr. Evans has established at the outset of his Forum and avoid speculative posts or posts which wind up as circular arguments.

We hope that this will be the forerunner of a new type of thread for this site in which those with many years of experience in the field can "hand down the fire", as Mahler would say, instead of budding researchers merely "praying to the ashes".

There are numerous young Ripperologists on this site who will immediately profit by the shared knowledge Mr. Evans has accumulated over the decades he has spent in this field, beginning with his photographic forays into the East End in the mid-1960's to his landmark and crucially important works, "Letters From Hell", "Scotland Yard Investigates", "The Ultimate Sourcebook" and "The Lodger".

In order to guarantee a smooth exchange data and conversation, I will ask one last time that we all avoid questions which are of a speculative nature unless Mr. Evans wants to engage in such discussion at some point in time.

Thanks in advance to all those on the Forums who will contribute to this exchange and comply with the expressed guidelines.

Thats true Bell...and it might be less stressful for SPE to only receive one question or two and have a chance to answer them, before proceeding to more questions.

Everyone here has a question, for sure, but if we bombard him or anyone else sitting in a similar situation, it might be counterproductive.

Thanks in advance to one and all.

Please note that all questions should be placed in the 'Questions' thread, and SPE's answers will appear in the companion 'Answers' thread. Otherwise, there would result a long disorganized thread in which it would be difficult to find matching pairs of Q&A.

This will also enable effective thread management, as we will need be vigilant in keeping the clutter at bay. Congratulatory posts, etc., may be relocated to effect this end.

As Q&A continue to appear, we will limit the sizes of the threads before closing them and beginning others. These will then be archived and organized in a manner such as "SPE Q&A Vol. I, 2009" or in whatever format Howard can most easily understand.

Good move ( for once) Tim.

This should make it easier and more enjoyable for the Forums member and Mr. Evans.:high5:

Thank you for answering my questions, much appreciated, didnt want to write this message in your actual forum as it would get clogged up with similar messages, so I hope you read this one!

This is a capital idea. Long overdue. I would be proud to take part in a thread that concerns itself with the sharing of ideas and information without the personal attacks and nastiness. It seems that every time an interesting thread develops it is quickly hijacked, sent off-topic, or degrades into personal insults, leaving scores of irrelevant posts.

From one apparently happy viewer... soon to be a participant to the SPE Forum:high5:

Thanks for the reply regarding Anderson Stewart

That's an excellent point
