I rarely read fiction, but when I saw this on sale for just 50pence I had to have a copy!

The book follows events in 1920's London, and takes the reader on a journey aboard the Mauretania, from Southampton to New York and features Ispector Dew...or is it? When a murder takes place aboard the ship, Dew is called upon to investigate!

The book runs at 251 pages, with no illustrations

An absolutely excellent book. I haven't read it in ages, but I know I thought it was great at the time. Also keep an eye out for Lovesey's Sgt Cribb novels, set in the late Victorian pediod. One of them Swing, Swing Togther has fairly strong Ripper connections. There was a superb TV series done of Cribb a few years back that's now available on DVD (sans the first episode, Waxwork). I met Peter Lovesey once and asked if he was going to write any more Cribb novels and he said 'no'. But I notice that another is due later this year - I'll be the first in the queue to get it.
