This report from the New York Times appeared on Sept.30th...the same morning that Eddowes was murdered !! It refers to Stride's murder which was obviously committed prior to Eddowes....but look how rapidly the word got to the US on Eddowes murder !!!

Has there been a murder in memory reported as quickly as this one was?

Another Murder In Whitechapel ( Sept.30)

Another mysterious murder has occurred in Whitechapel. The body of a woman of the town mutilated as in the previous cases was found in Mitre Square. It is also reported that another woman was murdered in the same vicinity.

It's the transatlantic telegraph, I suppose. I think Kelly's murder was reported on 9th November too.

Right Bob...

Its funny...but in an unrelated vein...if you were to send me, say...a package of British pounds in an envelope...I'd get the package faster than a letter sent from across town here in Philadelphia. Maybe we ought to try that. The same holds true for phone calls. If I call my brother in California...within one second of hitting the last digit on the phone, his phone rings...3100 miles away. Yet when I call my daughters on the phone and they are local... it takes several seconds for their phones to ring.

Its amazing to me how rapidly the Eddowes murder was reported in a New York paper...and yet there are numerous stories that appear in newspapers now that take over a day to appear.

Bob...the Eddowes murder occurred in the very early morning...and the NYTimes was on the street in the early morning too. Thats what really stunned me in this instance. You're right about the Kelly report too.

Lets keep that idea of you sending the dosh as an experiment on the front burner,brudda.:kiss:
