They had stories like that Nemo, if you remember the other day we were discussing Varney The Vampire and that in 1888, these sort of Penny Dreadfuls were scrutinized by the MP's in Parliament.

I remember seeing a cover of a penny dreadful with Varney on it. It predated the WM by a couple of decades.
