Hi Howard,

Great article. Thanks for posting it.

Have you got a date, which must have been post-1877 when Meiklejohn got busted in the Turf Fraud scandal?

Regards,

Simon

Mr. Bung...carp ponds...red tape worms...turpentined gin...makes RW-E's prose seem boring.

John:

All those things...I've had 'em, know 'em, or have 'em now. Good names for alternative rock bands too. Always thinkin' over here...

Simon:

Sor, I do not know the name of the British paper it emanated from...I'll try to hunt that down and don't know the date.

Simon:

The only information I have is that it appeared in May of 1891.

I will see if I can locate some more of these.. They are from the Bradford Illustrated News.

I was searching for some material in August 1891 in the Hull and East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Times, when I came across the John Meiklejohn serialisation. I read a couple, but the number of them, and because I was looking for other stuff, I didn't have time to peruse them any further, nor print them off. The thing that struck me was that they were all illustrated and covered full pages over several columns.
