Hi, Simon. Your article reads like an adventure novel- "The Girl Detective" or something!

Do you think it's true?

And if it is, do you think her name was omitted to protect her family from vengeance, or from the mid-Victorian embarrassment of being known to have a lady detective in the family?

PS: Paul, I got some kind of magic whistle once... but my Mom had to buy the sneakers for me in order to get me the special whistle that came with them!

I just re-read the article... she's got criminals throwing molten lead at her face and the police armed her with a RATTLE???

Not even a frying pan?

Hi All,

Glad you liked the article.

It's interesting that it's from an American newspaper. LVP England didn't like to admit to female detectives [of whom there were many].
