If any member disgruntled with the profusion of non-ripper content wants 'All JTR, all the time', then send me a PM requesting such and I'll take care of it.

To answer the question about 'why' we have forteana and other such non-JTR material, I refer you to

...and furthermore, if you pass up this opportunity to be spared the sight of threads or discussion you have no interest in, please...thats please...avoid trashing the threads that offend you and the people who enjoy discussing the ideas found within. Many people enjoy them, even if you and I don't.

Thank you in advance.:judge:

I don't understand the issue? The non-Ripper stuff is in a separate area and doesn't interfere with the Ripper stuff at all.

Mag:

To me and you and a dog named Boo...it isn't.

To some it is...and its in that spirit of compliance, that Tim offered his services to block the view of certain areas of the site, should some want that instituted.

How.

Just to make this clear, this is not an either/or thing? People who want only Ripper stuff have that option and for the rest of us things stay as they are?

Yup, it's on an individual basis. I can mask anyone's access to the non-ripper forums in question, so only that person is so affected.

I have treated Scott to this already; we'll see if he notices.

Oh, okay.

That sounds like a fair enough compromise. Ignore my previous comments and carry on :)

Genius.

My favorite is the "I Have No Mouth But I Must Scream" option.

My favorite is..."We shouldn't have any problems with the new server.."

Ha !

I want the attachment functions turned on now or I am going down to Texass to kickass !

The problem appears to be with a controls setting that the hosting service will have to administer. Most likely there has been no file path specified for the attachment file. Not surprising, since we not only recovered from an outage, but we changed servers and also upgraded the software. I think it is just a minor issue that can easily be rectified, but the hosting service, which maintains our software, will have to do that.

But c'mon down anyway if you want to. Us unemployed types should stick together.

Thanks for the reply and email Tim...most appreciated.

You're lucky...I just finished figuring out how to tie my sneakers and was headed out the door on the road to Texas....when I heard the "you've got mail !" guy on AOL...:fencing:

This is the message that appeared when I tried to open attachments from Simon Wood and myself on the West End Murder & SRA thread:

....which of course makes no sense in dagoodaEnglish....so we will have to wait for the host to figure out whats what here...

Dear Tim,

I am morally offended by Howards captions. Is it possible to have them blocked out? I don't mind everyone else's, and would like to still view them, but just Howards I don't want to see. :thumb:

Thanks iin advance.

Hi Tim

I personally think a number of the non-JtR-related threads are very educational and interesting, for example the image of the 1880's diver's suit and URL posted by Gumshoe. Life after all should be a continuous learning experience.

What a great philosophy!

I have a problem, will the removal of access to people that don't want to see paranormal content stop them seeing most of the Stephenson stuff?:pray2:
