Like a clock I am...
Its fast approaching MMX...2010...and we'll be taking all of your votes for achievements of the year....with a special twist to 2009's selection process. We're going to include Forums contributions which are exclusively Forums contributions as well as outside efforts.
For the year so far....I formally nominate the following for consideration and humbly request that you, dear member, send me or publicly post your choices too.
In no special order......
Archaic: For her untiring efforts in producing some of JTRForums most frequently replied to threads, her attitude and enthusiasm, and her personal assistance to the Chairman of The Bored...me...on numerous occasions. She applies her background in psychology and her natural common sense to virtually every post she makes on the site.
Mike Covell: For his work in radio media...his work in regard to compiling materials on Roslyn D'Onston...and his generosity in sharing his work.
Mark Davis: For his generous sharing of scans relative to asylums and data on a variety of relative subjects. Silverstealth also has his own YouTube channel which is very well produced and enlightening.
Debbie Dobbins : Bad shoulder and two dopey dogs notwithstanding, each week Debs delivers the goods with the Forums most viewed thread...which of course I am ripped off on on a regular basis.
Ripperologist Magazine : The crew at the Rip, from top to bottom...even Chris George, come through with relevant material every four weeks. Recently, Paul Begg and C.G. combined their acumen and research to put together an educational series on Harry Dam,which will conclude in November. Why not subscribe ?
John Bennett: For his tireless work on the WikiProject. John's efforts are an extremely valuable aid to newcomer and oldhead alike.
Chris Phillips : Chris has recently found a new reference to Druitt in the public domain which had gone unnoticed as well as a reference to the Whitechapel Murders in the works of SRA which have gone unmentioned, at least, in the message board venue.
Those are just a few of worthy.
Please send me your choices or post your choices here on this thread.
Thanks.
How, most kind of you but I feel that established authors in the genre should not be in the running for such an award of recognition, so I should like to take my name off your list, despite the fact that I am honoured to be included. Many thanks, Stewart.

Thanks for inclusion in the list Howard, it is an honour, but there are so man others that have done so much more and they deserve immense recognition.
This year has been a tough one, and my "A Game" has slipped somewhat, but hopefully after today things will be looking up and I will be able to get back into it.

"A" game or not, there's a lot of other reasons to mention your name on the list, Mike.
As you wish, Mr. E....although prior contributions ought not to eliminate anyone from the running. Its a shame, because unlike previous years when I promised a Maserati to the winner...this year, I was offering a video on singing lessons from this guy:

...and I hear you could use 'em.:lalala:

Not making any recommendation as to the winner but JM Menges should be on the list, for his podcasts.

I'm very surprised and honored to be mentioned, thank you. I had no idea there even was an award!
But I only joined in May, so I haven't even been here a full 6 months yet, and I know that many others have worked hard and contributed to the forums and the to the field of Ripperology for years.
Putting my own 2 cents in, I think John Bennet deserves special recognition for his dedication to the
Ripper Wiki Project. I'm so impressed with its concise presentation of detailed content, well-chosen photos & illustrations, and the overall organization that makes cross-referencing via hyper-links so easy... what a fabulous free resource for the rest of us!
And to think that John did all that work on top of a new book & various articles, each one of which constitutes a significant contribution. I know that. like myself, many people particularly enjoyed his August 2009 Rip article 'The Rookery'.

For once dear Archaic, time is not of the essence, its the contributions that count in my humble opinion...:ranger::clap:

I'd like to add Jeff Leahy's name to the list of notable contributors.
Jeff's work in providing a documentary of the 2009 Ripper Convention deserves praise.

Its been narrowed down to a trio of people...
John Bennett for Case related contributions
Debra Arif for her work in several Case related areas
Jeff Leahy for his work compiling the 2009 Ripper Convention on disc.
The responses so far have been underwhelming, so please drop me a line before December 30th as I will have just enough time to customize the 2010 Jaguar which will be presented to the winner.

Well, my vote would have gone to Archaic, human being extraordinaire, but as it seems she's out of the running I'll go for my good friend John Bennett for his amazing Casebook Wiki work. And by the way Ms Arif is one very pretty lady as well as being a top researcher And that Leahy geezer ain't too bad looking either and is also a whizz with cameras.

I nominate Howard for actually winning a caption contest - TWO in fact.

Fear not, Tim. I hear that the Nobel Committee has already put that on the short-list.

I think it's gotta be Philip Hutchinson.
First, he co-authored the 2nd edition of his book with Clack.
Second, the Dutfield's Yard book is just remarkable.
Third, he gave a great tour at the Convention.
And finally, the man is a dead ringer for Morrissey.

John:
If half of the community did 1/10th of what you do, we'd be further along in the game.
Your work on the Wiki for Casebook alone deserves the highest of accolades from anyone who cares about Ripperology.
It was a no brainer John.

Nice one, Sam. Jack Dee's doing quite a good job replacing Humph innit. My girlfriend threw up in the van early in the week

Jack Dee's doing quite a good job replacing Humph...Indeed, Stephen - he's doing remarkably well. All Jack has to do is to start treating Colin Sell with complete disdain and the transformation will be complete!

Right, now I've recovered from New Year, I'd just like to say thanks for this honour.
As regards the Wiki, I should also thank people who put in major contributions (I haven't done it ALL) such as Rob Clack, Chris Phillips, Neil Bell to name but a few, as well as those who made suggestions or who sent me info.
Cheers all and have a great 2010. Mine seems to have started rather well!
