TO THE READER.

I HAVB referred to the VHth Number of THE ARTIST so fre-
quently in the following pages, that I thought it necessary to print
it at the end of them; nor was I sorry to have an excuse for in-
troducing it into the present work, as I wished that so honourable
and so unquestionable a testimony to Mr. Opie's worth, borne by
contemporaries of known talents and integrity, should meet the
public eye at the same moment with my more partial and conse-
quently less forcible evidence.

AMELIA OPIE.

Hi AP,

1809 would seem to rule out Thomas Hayne Cutbush. He wasn't even a twinkle in his grandfather's eye at that time.

Or am I missing something?

Regards,

Simon

AP, the only candidate I can think of is Thomas Hoskins Cutbush. You'll remember, BTW, that Debs and I had him marrying Clarissa Flood in 1784. It seems that a year earlier he took a practice run at marriage. with a different woman.

I've had to shrink them somewhat, but here are the baptism and marriage of TTC and baptism of THC.

Robert, was Thomas Hoskins Cutbush the chap with the connection to the Tower, in charge of supplies etc?

That's the one, AP.
