That's our Lily the Pink!!!!!!!!The Scaffold, singing it "live" by the looks/sounds of it:

Classic!

Oddly enough, Chris George mentioned Adrian Henri only yesterday, and that clip features Roger McGough. I'll complete the triumvirate by name-dropping again: a very dear friend of mine at University was a 60s "beat poet", who knew all three "Liverpool Poets" well, and it was through him that I was introduced to Brian Patten.

I'll get me coat...

Jennifer Eccles.................

I WAS Jennifer Eccles - COVERED in blasted freckles, I was, when that little number topped the hit parade. :yuck:

What about the other one:

"Thank you very much for the Aintree Iron, thank you very much, thank you very very very much.... etc etc"

And what's the Beatle connection? Nobody over forty to answer that one - way too easy.

Love,

Caz

Apart from the apocryphal story I once heard that the Aintree "Iron" (hoof) referred to Brian Epstein?

Which reminds me:

There's a funny old family named Stein -
There's Gertrude, there's Ep and there's Ein;
Gert's poems are bunk,
Ep's sculptures are junk,
And no-one can understand Ein.

Hi Sam,

Paul's brother - Mike McGear (of Scaffold) - is the connection I was after.

Like the rhyme - and the iron 'oof theory. :)

(And I thought "Marianus" was the Roman word for a civil partnership ceremony. I shall have to ask my brother. :bolt:)

Love,

Caz
