When performing research on this suspect via Google or whatever, be sure to look for all variations of his name. Just recently someone was bemoaning the fact that just such a search had turned up nothing. Well, here's the man's headstone:

Thanks, Howard. A good cautionary note. I think one of the odd things about Tumblety is that he seems to have been comfortable with these different spellings of his name. But then maybe he used them as if they were aliases, like Townsend or Blackburn. They probably added to the slipperiness of the guy.
