I've just double checked and it works from this end?

Yep, says private for me too. Moving clouds, Jeff? Pah, now it's up and on DVD I want 3D, dammit. 3D or there's no show.

As for John, I've just texted him. You may not be able to show the full thing as he used some images and footage in the piece he does not have clearance to distribute.

Hi guys

I have today spoken to John Bennett. The good news is having talked it through we are going to try and find a way of including it (RIPPERLANDS) on the DVD.

This may mean cutting away to audience reactions from time to time.

However I can only see the sale of the DVD to people involved in Ripperology rather than commercial release so I cant fore see a problem.

Should Warner brothers get in contact we can always make alterations at a later point.

I am making the addition as we speak

Jeff

PS Unfortunately I did not have the Radio mic on John. But as its one of the best and funiest sections of the conference I think it well worth going with it. For those who where not at the conference a definite must!

I'm not usually one to judge a movie by its trailer, Jeff, but it looks like you've done some brilliant work there. Stunning visuals, and really beautiful music, too.

PS: loved the shot of the army of ripperologists shuffling into Swallow Gardens - looked like a scene straight out of I Am Legend :)

Tee Hee as Suzi would say...

One off my last remaining problems is Gareth!

He very kindly agreed to do a sink clap at the begining of every lecture. Which worked brilliantly except...

No one ever que'd Colin Cobb so he starts to speak every time befrore the clap finishes.

The result is that every lecture starts with Gareth making a Triangle above his head, which I have NOT as yet not come up with a plan to cut out?

Any suggestions for a cut-away at this piont in the conference, six times, would be most welcome :welcome:

Or do I just leave Garteth bizarrely with his hands in an 'A' shape?

a caption any one? perhaps Howard could put up a screen grab?

Nina and I watched it just now and we have to say that you certainly know what you're doing. That was a very high quality promotional. This is what we need in the field....Ripperologists making Ripperological media.

A+ Jeff. Thanks for sharing that and I can't wait until the entire disc is completed.

Actually, Jeff, that was Gareth raising his hands in silent prayer to an unhearing God that he be spared further ministrations from Liza after the talk ended.

Lets get this out one first. Luv ya all  Thanks for support xx

I'm having massive issues with the video - no matter how I try to watch it, streamed or downloaded in any of the player programs I have, it freezes and judders hundreds of times. I don't usually get this problem. Can someone tell me what's wrong and what I need to do, as it's the second video in two days that's done that. Ta.

It seems to be a rather high-resolution clip, Phil, and quite large as a result. Perhaps the freezing/juddering is the video stream stalling as your media player (or browser plug-in) buffers the content.

How Brown

"I'm having massive issues with the video..."-Phil

Brick:

Go defrag your computer....it may have too much data on it and thats why the download is slow in coming up. Mine slowed a little ( I have the Ask&Record software tape device in my computer, so if it wobbled at all when I tried to watch it normally, I can always go back and watch it without the wobblies with Ask&Record.)...but its perfect now.

Let us know whether defragging helps.

George Hutchinson
11-16-2009, 08:25 PM
Hi guys. No no, it's neither of them. I actually defragged earlier this evening and cannot play downloads as well as the stream, so it's nothing to do with buffering. The file is under 37MB and my PC is well-equipped to deal with such things with ease. The picture is moving out of synch with the sound, freezing or playing very slowly and the sound keeps stopping every second or so. It starts off all right, but begins to break down after about the first fifteen seconds.

Your computer may be well equipped....but how old is it ?

Does it do that if you try and play prerecorded discs ?

Jeff Leahy
11-16-2009, 09:19 PM
Hi Guys

The amount of times I've compressed this video it should run OK.

Remember you are watching a two and a half minute clip.

It was created in Quick time animation codec.

Then re-imported and compressed in H264. So you are watching a very small file.

I'm not certain how big the final file will be? However I have just had installed 4 x 1,5 Terror Bite hard drives to cope?

So its a big project, largely because we are working in HD.

For those interested in the Technical side, the Quicktime files (Animated codec) will be compressed to MP4 for the DVD. I have know idea how much each disc will contain. A disc will only take 4.7 GB of information.

I currently have nine sequences at approx 50 minutes in length, so arround 4 to 5 hours of information?

whether this lot will fit on two disc's, well your guess is as good as mine at this point (depends if I compress the files) also depends what quality you guys are after? However we could possibly be looking at a FOUR DVD set if you wish to watch the whole thing in full rez...

Just warning you all...

Jeff

PS A few errors have just been communicated to me. So I'm taking it off line. BAck on end of play tomorrow with corrections...thats what these tests are for!!!! ITS now OFF-LINE

Thanks for Link Mr P. For some reason I seem unable to reply to your post? I must be ban from posting on Maybrick (probably just as well:amen:)

However just to comment that the Directors use of Black Sabbath is obviously a homarge to ‘RIPPERLANDS’ and the Ripperlands creators use of Sabotage in the end credits!

Incidentally the Seminal Documentary is due for release on this years conference DVD complete with quotes from Stewart Evans, Don Rumblow and Ivor Edwards. Peter Begg has apparently declined to comment.

Yours Jeff

PS As a completely useless peace of trivia did you know that Black Sabbaths track ‘Fairies Wear boots’ does have an instrumental homage to 60’s serial killer Jack the Stripper?

Hi Caz

Obviously I never meant anything personally about you or those interested in the subject.

However I have long been convinced that the diary is a forgery and probably a modern Forgery. However it is a complicated subject and my energies and industry have followed other paths.

That said I have a meeting for a new psychic TV series tomorrow, so its probable that the damn 'M' word will raise its head again in the future:hurt:

I dont think I could take anymore..

You are certainly welcome to join in the Maybrick threads if you wish, Jeff.

I try to keep Maybrickian things in Diary World but since you raised the psychic point I will just mention that I collared Richard Jones after his talk and asked if any names popped up with regularly in seances . He said the great majority of psychics finger Maybrick as the Ripper.

So keep us posted. And say "hi" to Flo for me.

Ok thats the longest conversion in history,,three passes through handbrake but I'm now in possession of RIPPERLANDS!

Only problem is that the evil grey box is saying 3 hours to render it in place so Chris George slides will have to wait another day.

Cant wait to see what quality we achieve, its going to look a little rough in HD.

Oh and due to render the new promo is also running late..luckily I have the new Star Trek DVD to watch while we wait....

Theres still some editing to do on Stuart Orme, and I have shoots almost every day this week (makes a change!)

However the meeting with Adam was brilliant and bristling with exciting new ideas. We will try and have it on sale at the Xmas meeting. We do not know the cost. However Adams idea was to do a small run and let that money pay for the next and so on. Hopefully that way we can keep costs down...

I give you my word that I will try and complete by then and have two copies put asside (incase of a massive run :juggle:)

Thanks you both for your kind words and an early "Merry Xmas".

Hi All

I have just heard back from Shawn Barber that the NTSC DVD play correctly and to the end!!

This was the same batch that I sent to Adam so I’m hoping everything is OK.

That said Shawn did play them on his ‘play station’ which may have made a difference.

I gather from Tom Wescott that the four discs I sent to him did not work?

I’m a little uncertain why not. I have thus created another four discs this weekend which I will post. Lets see if we can at last get everything resolved. Sometimes these little technical glitches take a while to rectify.

Please note that PAL copies are available and should play on your computer where ever you are.

Fingers crossed

Jeff
