Being that today is the day before Christmas....I'm going to put up nothing but Christmas Eve Ripper trivia today...and convert attachments. I tried to jam 36 hours into a 24 hour day yesterday and I'm sort of beat...and I'll bet you are too.

If you have a trivia question you would care to share on the thread, by all means do so.

What happened at Scotland Yard on this day 121 years ago involving an Inspector and an out of work salesman ?

On Christmas Day in 1888, this event, which occurred on Christmas Eve, was mentioned in a Liverpudlian paper....the Liverpool Mercury.

A man named Frederick Rendersdorf, a German....followed a woman named Ann Schofield throughout the town...for what purpose I cannot determine.

Then....a PC named Schofield confronted Rendersdorf....who pulled a knife out on the PC...and actually kicked the constable several times. He was subdued...and fined One Pound and 11 shillings. He is said to have mentioned he would do a "Jack The Ripper" on the policeman.

What other penalty did Rendersdorf recieve ?

1. 10 years in Liverpool's local asylum
2. Sentenced to Strangeways Prison for 20 years acting strange
3. The "option" of 6 weeks in jail.
