I'm somewhat stunned that here its been a week since I went to my email account that Adam Wood sends the Rip to....and lo and behold, there's a bonus issue ( 63 pages in all ) commemorating Christmas !

What a very nice surprise.

Glad I subscribe to the Rip !

Out of the thousands of actors who have portrayed Mr. Scrooge over the years, I think George C. Scott put on the best performance. He didn't play the role of Scrooge in a caricature form. The veteran actor who played the role of Old Marley worked very well with George C. Scott, too.

Santa Adam and his elves on the Rip Team never take a break! Their hard work is very much appreciated.

The veteran actor who portrayed Marley's ghost also portrayed Inspector Lestrade in two Ripper films ( Study In Terror, 1965 and Murder By Decree, 1979 )..Frank Finlay.

For years I assumed that the man who played Robert James Lees in the 1988 Michael Caine movie was the same actor who played Marley's ghost. But I've never actually looked it up until just a few minutes ago.

Sonofagun. They were two different actors. Ken Bones and Frank Finlay.

Those two guys kind of look the same to me.

(Then again it took me years to tell the difference between Leslie Ann Warren and Susan Sarandon.)

And we could thank the Rip's special issue for straightening this all out!

Hi Howard and Joe

British actor Frank Finlay (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0277975/), born first came to my attention when he played Jean Valjean in a 1967 British TV serialized production of Les Miserables. He has done considerable film, TV, and stage work, as the link to the Internet Movie Database listing shows.
