Does anyone know anything about an alleged Ripper attack on this woman who lived at 32 Flower & Dean St and identified Liz Stride in the morgue as Annie Morris?

Hi Nemo,
Could it be attack by Charles Ludwig/Wetzel? His victim was a woman named Elizabeth (forgotten the surname) who only had one arm, I think it's the A to Z that mentions that it could have been the same 'one armed Liz' who misidentified Stride. It's an interesting story anyway.

Thanks Debra - I'll look into that

I wouldn't have thought there would be too many 1 armed women attacked by a Ripper suspect

Debs, Nemo...

That would be Elizabeth Burns, all of 18 and one arm.

'A female known as "One-armed Liz," living in Flower and Dean-street, is said to have accompanied Sergeant Thick to St. George's Mortuary, and recognised the body as that of Annie Morris, an unfortunate, residing in a common lodging house in the neighbourhood of Flower and Dean-street.' (Daily Telegraph, 1 October 1888)

Numerous newspapers report the arrest of Charles Ludwig. The Echo, (2 October 1888) gives the name and address of the woman he attacked. 'A German, giving his name as Charles Ludwig, was charged at the Thames Police-court, to-day, with threatening to stab Elizabeth Burns, of 55, Flower and Dean-street, Spitalfields...'

Two women named Liz, both with one arm, both living in Flower and Dean Street - seems reasonable that they were one and the same.
