I wonder what happened with the three girls mentioned in the article. The intervention by the authorities probably saved them from winding up like these other women did.

I shake my head when I read posts claiming that women in the LVP always had a chance to lift themselves out of a life of prostitution and opportunities & chances were always present for them to do so. These same people don't take into account that many of these prostitutes grew up in an environment where prossing was as natural...no,make that more natural, than bathing. This post sort of shows otherwise and it is by no means the worst or a rarity in terms of newspaper reports of similar degredation to working class people.
