"Man learns more readily and remembers more willingly what excites his ridicule than what deserves esteem and respect."

- Quintus Horatius Flaccus Horace

Is this why everyone seems to know the Royals Theory?

Pretty good quote there, Tim.
Actually, speaking of the Royal Conspiracy, it makes me think of a line by Hugh Fraser (Sir Charles Warren) in the 1988 JTR mini-series, that goes:

"If he sneezes, he must have pneumonia. If he comes within a mile of Whitechapel, he's obviously Jack the Ripper. Gossip is far more powerful than facts."

That was of course in reference to Prince Albert Victor. Sort of rings true when you consider the wild theory as opposed to the true facts, huh? Gossip and rumour can have a long lasting effect, no matter how different the truth might be...

Cheers,
Adam. :)

Adam and Tim:

Regardless of whether ANY semblance of truth in the Royals Conspiracy hold water [ more like an assassination...].....we all find our memory cells work better if someone in better straits is in trouble or up the proverbial creek...

Good point Tim.............. and Flaccus....Even your ancient Hungarian Empire people knew what was what....... ;)
