This Old Man is beat tonight and has to call it quits.
Tomorrow night until Sunday, I'll bring up some more newspaper articles for the Archives....articles which can serve as companions to David Monaghan's book, Jack The Ripper's Secret Confessions", and maybe something special for The Saturday Search.

Meanwhile, if anyone has an idea they would like to share for next month's Topic of The Month ( Lately when I do 'em, they wind up looking like Ostrog threads...)...let me know.

Maybe next month's topic could deal with helping newcomers to our field.

For example, we can form a list of established Ripperologists and note their specialty. That way newcomers will know who to contact if they are interested in learning more about a particular branch of Ripperology.

For example both Chris Scott and Debra Arif are superb in the field of old newspaper research. I know that a fellow Jtrforums member, Bill Amos, is an excellent genealogist for 19th century United States history. I enjoy working with Bill very much. Wolf Vanderlinden has a tremendous knowledge of the Carrie Brown murder. Whenever I need to know about the geography of London, I always end up getting in touch with John Savage. And our list could go on and on.

The best part of it is that most established Ripperologist are often very helpful to new members of our field. They usually give very good advice on how to proceed with their research.

Good idea, Joe.

And our list should certainly include the names of editors who do such a fine job when they improve a text. Chris, Don Souden, and Eduardo Zinna excel at that.

Very good idea, Joe....:tea:

Maybe we should ask individuals who they would refer to in certain areas.

Then at some point in time put out a "JTR For Beginners" thread with a list of people who were selected for their particular areas of expertise or have people bold enough to suggest themselves in certain areas. Either way, it impresses the civilians and can be an asset to those already on these boards.

We'll do it Joe. Thats going to be April's Topic.
