JTRSickert

Hi everyone. In Patty Cornwall's book on Sickert, she mentions the possibility of a prostitute named Emily Dimmock murdered in September 1907 being a Ripper victim. In the course of that murder, a man named Robert Wood was arrested and tried for her murder and found Not Guilty. Now, since the most serious of Ripperologists can pretty much discount the whole Sickert-as-Ripper theory, I was still wondering though if anyone here considers the possibility of Emily Dimmock being a Ripper victim. True, only her throat was cut but it was a very deep one, which almost severed her head. And, this murder occured nearly 20 years after JTR first terrorized the streets of London. If it was jack, maybe his bloodlust wasn't as strong as it was in the previous 20 years.

In the case of Sickert, unfortunately for him, he lived until 1942, so any woman who was murdered by way of having her throat cut or mutilation of any sort in the intervening 54 years between the Whitechapel murders and Sickert's death is likely to be named as a possible victim of his by those who still adhere to the theory.
I must admit I hadn't heard of this Emily Dimmock woman. Do you know where she was killed, how old she was, etc?
Cheers,
Adam.
She was the Camden Town murder that inspired a few of Sickert's paintings Adam

Ah! With you now. Thanks Nemo. :)
I just thought as well, about the possibility of her being a JTR victim.....the vast majority of the major Ripper suspects were already dead or locked up by 1907. Doesn't mean it couldn't have been him, but it seems fairly improbable, especially after the passing of near on 20 years.
Cheers,
Adam.

Not sure if this has been posted before, this is a picture taken from The Penny Illustrated Paper and Illustrated Times, dated Saturday, September 21st 1907 and showing a recent picture of Emily Dimmock and the property where she was found.

Hi Mike
The illustration is new to me. Thanks for posting it. Knowing something about the murder, I am surprised that the killing took place in such a prestigious looking house. So if this is one of Jack's, which I doubt, it brings up the idea that the chosen location was a marked contrast to his murders of 1888.
All the best
Chris

Is it just me or does that pic of Emily look just like Ethel Le Neve?
