Hard to imagine that anyone would believe that Jack The Ripper was a fictional character and especially this gent who was a contemporary of the Saucy One....

....and this one thought he was the Ripper....

Debra Arif and I had been looking into this character, but I personally ran out of options as the California newspaper which I had been trawling ceased operations in 1910 ( or was it 1913...). Oh well.

Just a note here for any California Ripperologists...it might be something worthwhile for someone in the Los Angeles area to check into mental institutions over there as Nina ran into the proverbial brick wall doing as much over here.

One of several articles which mention the victims of the various murderers titled as a "Ripper" in less than glowing terms.
This time they're labelled "loafers".

Winslow again, this time flip flopping on a previously maintained position that the police had the Ripper all along.

First, it was Sir Robert Anderson claiming the Ripper was identified and had been institutionalized....

....then it was Mr. Kebble, a lawyer, claiming his former client W.G.Grainger was the Ripper....

....only to be countered by L. Forbes Winslow, who had claimed that the Ripper was institutionalized, but not the same Jack that SRA claimed he was only to then declare that the Ripper had escaped...

....and finally Henry Smith who countered them all...

....not to forget Jack Shaw in Los Angeles who confessed to being the Ripper 22 years after his crimes.
