I am happy to announce the appearance on Amazon of the forthcoming book 'Jack the Ripper: CSI Whitechapel', written by Paul Begg and myself.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jack-Ripper-...7332995&sr=8-1

It is due to be published by Andre Deusch/Carlton Books in October or November this year.

Retelling the story of the Whitechapel murders from Emma Smith to Frances Coles, it focuses on the crime scenes, using over 130 archive and modern photographs (many published here for the first time), bespoke maps showing the movements of victims and where witnesses made their sightings and excitingly, over 30 specially comissioned artworks by the incomparable Jake Luukkanen showing the crime scenes and other relevant locations as they were in 1888, in full colour.

Carlton's production values are second-to-none and this will be the most lavishly illustrated Ripper book to date!
In Casebook's press reports, there's a brief mention of Spilsby in the Irish newspaper, the Munster News..from September 12th, 1888.

"One man named James Spilsby has been arrested on suspicion..."

The Munster paper doesn't mention that Spilsby was under suspicion for stabbing women, as found in the article in the Glasgow paper.

However, I located a little more about him in the Glasgow Herald from the 10th of September....

Hello, I'm new and wanted to introduce myself. I'm a writer and editor, and my husband and I are writing a novel dealing with JtR. I hope to learn a lot here that will make our story realistic and compelling. I love historical novels, and I think part of the magic lies in creating a realistic backdrop for the action to take place.

I'm sure I'll be asking questions all over the place, and I welcome all the help I can get. Just know that while I intend to learn as much factual evidence as I can, I may end up fictionalizing some here and there to make the story. :)

So, all that being said, I hope I get to know many of you well. Anyone who ends up being particularly useful will get a mention in our acknowledgements, unless you'd rather not.
