From another thread originally brought up by Tom Wescott:
Le Grand and Ostrog, aliases Grant Lately I've started to wonder if there wasn't some confusion between Le Grand and Ostrog. In Feb 1891 occurs the first press mentions of Le Grand as a Scotland Yard Ripper suspect. In later articles, he would mistakenly be referred to as a Belgium, like Ostrog. Both men used the alias 'Grant'. Certain details that fit Le Grand, such as having a collection of knives and being very violent, were attributed to Ostrog, seemingly without cause. I haven't really looked too close at it yet, but intend to. Just thought I'd share the idea. 3/09/2010 ********************** Could Tom be on to something here ? As he said, he's looking into this idea. Macnaghten did make a mistake or two in the Memoranda. Could this be one as well ? ?
