I just noticed in the primary newspaper source for British newspaper articles that I use ....and within the primary one I use for American papers....that there are no articles to be found ( yet) on the day of the Kelly murder in the British press on the 9th...and yet, in the American press, there are at least 6 which appeared on the same day.
I didn't forget to factor in the 5 hour time differential between the US & UK....but I'm surprised that no late evening editions of British papers have been found. Newspapers in Grand Forks,N.D...Jackson & Saginaw,Michigan..were 6 hours behind being on CST. Papers in Washington,DC, Augusta,Ga., and New Haven,CT are all 5 hours behind in time...all cities found in EST. So...what this means...and if I'm wrong please correct me here....is that at 11 PM on November 9th in Britain, some Americans were reading or had already read about the Kelly murder...which Brits would have to do the next morning. I've yet to check the Times out...so I might be wrong here.

I just checked the sources I don't use...and shucks...The Star mentions the Kelly murder....but the Times didn't.
Oh well. ...I thought I might have had something going there...

The Echo had a same day story on the murder; on page 3. I think most of the press was at the Lord Mayor's Show and given the late time of the discovery some of the papers had already gone to press. The 5 & 6 hour time delay was an advantage for the American press; giving them more time before printing.

Cris:
Thanks pardner. Here I thought I was on to something...nothing spectacular like one of my captions or private steamy & dreamy poems to Caz....but it occurred to me when I went back into the sources I use that stories on the Millers' Court murder didn't materialize until the 10th in the UK. That thought or wish has now been shattered by the presence of the Echo & Star reports which did appear on the 9th. I'll tell ya CM...the moment I noticed that the Pall Mall Gazette didn't mention it or have a 4th Edition discussing the crime...I thought I had "something". Then I went elsewhere and after a few minutes noticed that the Star had a write up. I was dejected, demoralized, and mentally disturbed. I kid Cris...I was already mentally disturbed before all this. Whats coincidental about this is that I was also converting an article on F.H.Truesdale, a New Haven,CT. newspaperman, who went to London to work at the Star at the same time I was under the impression I "found something". Oh well.....

![]() I actually did trawl that paper !...but did not use the search term Dorset Street. I would have found it and instead of getting hopped up, I would have been corrrrected right offadabat. I used "ripper" & "whitechapel". Thanks Chris ! ...

Who should of let me win because My captions are more better But I can't bare... bear to upset her So I write all this tripe just for Caz Oh yeah... I remember that one. It was an early work from my "blue " period. You 'member when I fell off the back of that truck what was doing 60 mph and I had this big bruise on my face for two weeks...it was from then. Lately... my "no bruises period" poetry has lacked that je nais se quoi that the udder ones had.

This is simply answered: The Star was an evening newspaper while The Times was a morning newspaper. Chris

Having had a nice slice o' crow pie for my mistake....
How many London or U.K. newspapers mentioned the Double Event on September 30th....especially those with evening editions ? I can locate at least 4 American papers which did.
