In June 1891 Charles Cheetham Vevers registered this photograph for copyright. Charles is listed on the 1911 census as a photographer, portrait and press. His address in June 1891 was given as 12 Market St Briggate, Leeds. In later years he worked for the Daily Mirror.

There's a brief description of Walter Turner in Yorkhire prison records from when he was sent down for 9 months for the 1889 knife attack on his wife, Ellen.

Age 29, height 5ft 2in. Dark brown hair, bald forepart of head. Two small moles on throat.

Thank you, Debs!

Great photograph. The sketch from matches it pretty well, too.

Charles Cheetham Vevers was a Horsforth man. He may well have taken the 1891 Black Bull photo.

Not sure, might be related to the Waterhouse murder. The photo was copyright June 1891.
