Thank you Howard. This sounds a lot like Cohen to me, or somebody similar. The fact that he had no recorded family on his Workhouse and asylum admission records notwithstanding.

Default David Cohen versus Kosminsky.

I have always felt the David Cohen explanation to be most plausible. I don't believe the admitting attendants at the Colney Hatch asylum mistakenly believed his name to have been Cohen. He was Cohen. He, i believe is a different suspect than Kosminsky, who was committed by his family at a different time. To me, the recorded story of Cohen's apprehension, incarceration and subsequent death, at least points to the timeline of what was then theorized to be the accepted explanation of the end of the Whitechapel Murders and the demise of Jack the Ripper.

Not to mention the possibility that "Cohen" could have been anglicized from "Kosminski."
