Reminds me of the series "The Worst Jobs In History" with Tony Robinson. If you ever have a chance to catch an episode, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for mentioning that,buddy.
It was a heck of a series.
I recall that those who worked in the capacity of hide tanners were considered the fellas with the worst jobs in the Victorian Age.

Sorry to be late to the party; I've been out conducting field research for the sequel to Flushed Away.

This month's Smithsonian Magazine has a feature on the Thames Mudlarks, past and modern, and what they continue to find in black mud.
