Thanks, Dusty-yeah, definitely less evil looking with his hair and 'tasche.
The Tussaud version looks very much like Deeming's Liverpool pic. that I posted in post #18.

There is also a copy on display in the holding cell in Albany (WA) where Deeming was secured before taking ship back to Melbourne.

I never got round to posting this along with the Dinham Villa photographs and Deeming portrait I posted earlier in the thread. It's a photograph of the Commercial Hotel where Deeming stayed before moving in to Dinham Villa.

Nice old photo, Debs. Where was the hotel?
I notice the brewery was Inde Coope, original a Romford company, but also later in Burton-on-Trent.

Thanks Gary. The hotel was in Rainhill village near Liverpool. I think Deeming stayed here while he made inquiries about renting Dinham Villa. I posted a photo of the village earlier in the thread and I also have one of Rainhill church that I haven't posted.

Hi Debra

The existing Commercial Hotel and Pub in Rainhill doesn't correspond with what you posted. See here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/garstonian/3404224384. Of course, that's not to say that it isn't the same location and that the original Commercial Hotel of Deeming's day was demolished and this one built in its place.

Best regards

Chris

Hi Chris,
I'm not certain of the date on the photograph I posted but the photographer applied for copyright on the picture in 1892, the year Deeming was caught. The photographer was a Liverpool photographer and he also photographed Dinham Villa and applied for copyright on that picture on the same day so he was in the right village. I can see some similarity in a facing of the picture you posted and the building in the photograph I posted terms of number of floors and shape, number and size of the windows of the top two floors but there is a lot of difference because of the arches in the second picture.
