Default Podcast With Tom & Jenny --- 13 O' Clock Podcast

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JHYD0ciG44

Episode 40 - The Atlanta Ripper: America's Forgotten Serial Killer
The Atlanta Ripper is perhaps one of America's most brutal and prolific serial killers, but also one of its most forgotten, and there is even some controversy over whether he existed at all. Starting around 1909, a series of murders of black and mixed-race women in Atlanta, Georgia suggested that a mysterious murderer was prowling the streets, slashing women's throats and sending the entire community into a panic. On this episode, Tom and Jenny discuss this tragically unsolved case, delving into the murders themselves as well as the controversies surrounding the killings at the time. America, it seems, had its very own Jack the Ripper, and whoever he was, he's the subject of our 40th episode.

The Atlanta Ripper (Thinking Sideways Podcast)

For two years in the early 20th century, the black community of Atlanta was terrorized by a serial killer whose crimes eerily resembled those of Jack the Ripper. The killer was never caught.

It seems that another negro woman was killed in the same location in 1917.
Like this victim, she was discovered by two boys and had her throat cut and head crushed.

Two negro boys who were picking blackberries early Sunday morning discovered the body of an unknown negro woman lying dead and partly concealed just beyond the Atlanta and West Point Belt Line about 300 yards from Stewart Avenue.
The woman's skull was completely crushed and battered in by some heavy and sharp instrument and the county police were strongly reminded by the nature of the crime of the old time work of jack the Ripper.

Indications are that the woman was killed very early in the morning and as yet her body has not been identified. Lieutenant Jordan and Policeman Stovall of the county police, are investigating the case. No arrest has been made.

Default March 9, 1909

In a lonely spot a short distance away from Ponce De Leon avenue, and near the foot of Jackson street, the bleached bones of a young woman were found Sunday afternoon by W.W Hughes of Reynoldstown. The matter was reported to the local police, and Detectives Hood and Arthur were detailed on the case. Although they believe the girl was murdered the detectives have so far made no arrests and are completely baffled. Coroner Paul Donehoo held an inquest but succeeded in shedding no light on the mystery.

The body, partly decomposed, had still around it stripes of clothing and the authorities think the body that of a negro girl, and they say that they believe she was murdered. About two weeks ago a similar discovery was made by two small boys in the neighborhood who found the body underneath a pile of trash.

Default Clark University murder

The gruesome discovery of the body of a negro woman with head crushed in and numerous other marks of violence about her person, lying in a mud puddle on the campus of Clark University, for negroes was made by white school children Monday afternoon about 2:30.

The body was removed to Robertson's s undertaking establishment and at early hour Monday night was still unidentified, She was dressed in a black skirt and appeared to be 30 or 36 years old.

County Police Lieutenants Jordan and Stovall who are probing into the mystery of the death Monday night were without any clew that would lead to a clearing of the affair.

Although the article doesn't mention the police attributing this murder to the Ripper, one can see the similarities,
