The Crime Scenes Lacking any forensic sciences as a tool,we're as well off as the contemporary detective was . That won't deter us,as we continue to investigate those scenes of madness....or calculated acts...

Thanks for these Rob!
The shots showing houses backing on to Regent's canal are fascinating. I've never seen anything like that before! Would this be something that happened around other spots of that canal? Houses backing on to it, I mean.

Hi Debs,

I'll check my maps when get home. I'd say it was pretty rare and these were the only ones in the East End area which was why it was easy to spot. Most of the buildings along the canals were whaves and warehouses. I'll check tonight as things might be a bit different the further west you went.

Hi Debs,

These were the ones I spotted (in yellow). There were the occasional ones past Mile End Road, but I don't think they backed on to the canal like the Emmott Street ones did as they (I think) were built a lot higher than the water line so there would be a higher wall along the canal.

Emmott Street is the yellow splodge on the left.

There was also houses backing on to the canal further north in Haggerston and the canal also passed alongside Victoria Park in Bow.

Thanks for these Rob, particularly the Regents Canal material. This kind of stuff is great.
