Default Governor Harry Webster resigns

Many will recall that Governor Harry Webster was the former Governor of Hull Gaol when Frederick Bailey Deeming was serving time for defrauding Messrs. Renyldson's in Hull. Webster eventually left Hull for Australia and sunnier climes and it was partially his testimony that helped link Deeming, in Australia, to the crimes in Hull and elsewhere.

Here, for the first time, is the resignation notice as it appeared in the Hull Daily Mail, dated August 7th 1891. The resignation came just one month after Deeming was released.
