I love this book. I tried to order it for my class but the bookstore at the university told me that there was no distributor for it. I made it recommended, and hope some students buy it anyway.

This book is one of the first Ripper ones I bought, as Im a sucker for books with lots of photos in them, and this one is brilliant, I even took it to London with me to compare the sites, like the cover says, then and now...an excellent book to have, may there be many more printed!

Brick:

Whats the scoop on getting a second edition out to the people?

Are the publishers of the first edition going to do the right thing or are you negotiating with some other party(ies) ?

Hi How. The Facebook group has people saying they are still sending in orders and Breedons aren't saying they DON'T have copies; it wouldn't be unexpected for them to actually go ahead and reprint and not tell Rob and myself anything. The Facebook group has nearly 200 members, 100 signing up in the first 24 hours. When we hit 200 I intend to contact Breedon with the link. I had a lot of questions for them in my last e-mail of a couple of weeks ago which they've not yet answered.

Both Amberley Publishing and The History Press have approached me to issue reprints if Breedons release it - and that would mean we could put in the corrections we want and sort the few images with the nasty cross-hatching on them - but I've no idea if they'll ever let us have it back to get it republished. I certainly have no intentions of writing for them again.

Thanks for this information,Phil

What can we do here on JTRForums to encourage someone to print a second edition?

I have been chatting with a member of the purchasing team of a large British book retailer, this is ongoing, but he has already shown an interest and believes this is an issue worth not only fighting for, but worth taking to his head office to see if they can place a huge order, and roll out the book to all their stores.

The Facebook group is going from strength to strength and there is an "Invite Button" on the group at the right hand side, if you click on this, you can invite your friends to join, and I would encourage anyone and everyone to have a go at this.

This is an invaluble pictorial history of the East End, a useful reference book, and it contains some bits about a serial killer, what is not to like!

I really hope they open their eyes to this great opportunity and see sense...if it was updated, I would certainly buy another copy, and lots of my friends have joined the group, they arent Ripper fans but I explained to them about why this book must be reprinted.

I dont get it sometimes, theres some real crap out there that gets into its 4th edition, yet a decent book like this, the publishers are fannying around about it, why?????????!!!!
