This is a site that I stumbled across last week and was hooked on immediately. If you're old enough to remember those awful sci-fi films of the 1950's, then this site is for YOU. Read the info on Robot Monster; I'm still laughing.

Tim.......Thanks for this URL ! Its a coincidence that I was at a nearby Hallmark store, waiting for Val to pick out her next Beanie Baby ( why do they make 50 of the same kind, but of different color and shade ? ! ) and saw that they have released some of the old 1940's flicks that we used to watch at 3 AM, featuring Peter Lorre as Mr. Moto, the East Side Kids,Bulldog Drummond, and the like,on DVD,for $6 to $8.00
I also found a 1957 classic, the Japanese/Texas flick, "Godzilla Goes To Galena Park"..... |

Sitting here eating a nice cheesesteak ( mushrooms, roasted Italian peppers, and no sauce ) and lo and behold the biggest whiner flick I can remember comes on........Midnight Express.
Its about an American middle class kid ( you know that type...the ones who think money can buy everything...and they're usually right !). Brad Davis, the lead actor, who died of AIDS plays Billy Hays, a Longuyland,N.Y. twentysomething who gets pinched for trying to smuggle some hashish outta Turkey..........The rest of the film is a soapbox for Ugly Americans who think they can go to any country and violate their laws without punition....The moral of this saga ( yeah,he escapes...after killing the warden (Paul Smith) who also was in an equally awful film, POPEYE,with that Texas beauty queen,Shelley Duvall ), harkens one back to the old ditty from that Little Rascal, Robert( I'm innocent !) Blake's old show ,Baretta........ If you can't do the time.....then don't do the crime ! |

I believe they gave a movie I was in a very bad, but funny, review many years ago.

I didn't ever see Robot Monster but when is was a little kid I saw the previews for it when I was at the drive-in with my parents. It scared the crap out of me.

It's amazing to me that anyone found any of these old monster movies scary at all. But then, some films that scared me when I was young are hardly watchable now.

I see the influence of Ray Harryhausen almost everyday. The monsters particularly the walking/fighting skeletons feature in almost every RPG I've played.
