Further to Howard's post above, it's been very encouraging to see that although we have yet to start announcing our speakers for this year's event, we have already had a considerable number of people reserve their places, simply on the basis of how well received previous events have been.

If you haven't reserved your place yet, then head over to for details and to pay a deposit.

As in previous years, we are aiming to have a variety of speakers presenting talks on Jack the Ripper, and East End history in general. There will also be a guided photography walk around a selected part of London, a subsequent photo competition where delegates can vote for their favourites taken on the walk, the presentation of this year's Katherine Amin Award for Outstanding Contribution, a raffle to raise money for charity and last but not least the chance to enjoy socialising with like-minded people over a full weekend!

    All the best
Andrew Firth (on behalf of the conference organising team).

        Postponement Of 2020 Event

We are very sorry to announce that, due to the ongoing uncertainty about gatherings for indoor events, the East End Conference due to have taken place this October has had to be postponed.

Pending confirmation from the Astronomer, we will instead hold the event on the weekend of 3/4 April 2021. We are in discussion as to whether to host a second event six months later, in the usual October spot.

Over the next few days I'll be in touch with everyone who has paid a deposit, or settled in full, to offer the choice of carrying your payment over to April or receiving a full refund.

We're sorry to have to make this decision, but the safety and welfare of our guests and speakers is of the utmost importance to us.

Thank you for your understanding. We hope this gives everyone enough notice to cancel accommodation and travel reservations, and hope to see you all in April.

        The EEC organising team:
        Andrew, Mark, Karl and myself.
        -Adam Wood-
