Four University of Idaho students, three women and one male, were reportedly stabbed to death in their beds between 3:00 to 4:00 AM, November 13, 2022. The attack took place in an off campus rental house in Moscow, Idaho. The victims were Kaylee Goncalves* age 21, Madison "Maddie" Mogen 21, Xana Kernodle 20, and Ethan Chapin 20.
*(The C in Goncalves is pronounced like soft S.)
The case is still developing and no persons of interest have yet been identified. There is already a Wikipedia page for the case which gives a good overview.
A number of YouTube true crime channels are covering the developments. Last night the channel "Sleuth Intuition" shared a very peculiar InstaGram account that referred to Jack the Ripper. As I understand the information, this account was supposedly made prior to the homicides. The user name is Moscow_Slayer. I think at this time the account has been deleted. It has been turned in to law enforcement. I believe "Sleuth Intuition" screen shot more than was presented last night.
I will attempt to make a link to the program. My ability to make links has not improved, so we hope this will work. youtube.com/watch?v=5NicCyHF1xY&t
If I got lucky, that will work. If it does not, here is a screen shot from 44:36 in the video.
The text is just below a colorized version of one of the Mary Jane Kelly photos. Sleuth Intuition had barely flashed this picture and then cut it off as seen. (YouTube algorithms penalize true crime channels that graphically discuss or portray crimes so there are a number of ways to discuss without discussing certain things.) If the link works, there is another reference to JtR. Further, the only three "friends" listed for the Moscow_Slayer were the three women who were killed.
Personally, I think this account must be some sort of hoax. Even if the time frame seems to show the account existed before the murders, I wonder if the time could be fudged some way. A lot of weird stuff happens on social media.
If indeed this account existed in its entirety prior to the murders, we would have to wonder if the killer created the account and if he is a fan of Jack the Ripper. Did his -- presumably a male -- knowledge of JtR's crimes furnish a blueprint for the attacks one month ago? At this time it appears the killer sneaked into the house in the dark and attacked the victims in their beds. At least two of the students had been drinking at a local tavern prior to returning home around 2:00 AM. It is reported that the causes of death were stab wounds to upper body areas from a heavy knife sometimes compared to the Ka-Bar knife used in the military. The Moscow_Slayer speaks of his time in the military, sneaking into dwellings in the dark, apparently doing anti-terrorist work.
For what it's worth, JtR's name has come up in a very recent crime.

(I have posted and now know the link will not work. However, I am not sure that the video is still available. I dragged that link out of my YouTube history and I think links are different once something is fished out of history. Anyway, I cannot find last night's video on Sleuth's page. I think he will share more from the Moscow_Slayer InstaGram unless there is a reason he cannot.)
